Show My Location
The web map can show where you are as a blue dot, and follow you as you move — useful in the field for "where am I relative to that hydrant / turnout / gully?"
- Tap the location button (a target symbol) at the top right of the map.
- Allow location access when your browser asks.
The map moves to your position and keeps the dot updated. Tap the button again to stop following.
Notes
- Your location stays on your device. It isn't sent to the atlas or shared with anyone.
- If you're outside the atlas area, the map still goes to where you are, but the atlas's own layers won't be there.
- Laptops find their location from Wi-Fi, which can be off by hundreds of metres. Phones with GPS are much more accurate.
- Not every atlas has the button turned on yet. If yours doesn't, ask your atlas administrator.
